Archaeological Museum

The museum, which was transferred to its present building in 1984, contains finds yielded by excavations in various parts of the region, such as Bayrakli, Ephesus, Pergamum, Miletus, Aphrodisias, Sardis and Iasos, all arranged in chronological order and ranging in date from 1000 B.C. to Ottoman times.

Outstanding exhibits include the statues of Demeter and Zeus from the Agora in Izmir, geometric pottery, Yortan type vessels, Sidamara sarcophagi and column capitals. There are over ten thousand exhibits in all.
